Samhain Candles

Change enables growth and development. In a time where confusion and disharmony have taken on full societal force, what better opportunity to strengthen your fundamental intentions and reflect on the year than Samhain (Celtic for "summer's end"). 

Marking the final days of harvest, Samhain is known to most as Halloween. In the Gaelic year, it represents one of the two doorways, where Beltane is the "light" and Samhain (pronounced "sow-in") is the "dark". We like to honor it as an otherworldly shift entering into darker days. Light is lost as we turn back the clocks and welcome that cool blanket of stillness with gatherings of symbolic gestures like pumpkins and apples.

Candles hold great significance during this time of year. Their flames convey a person's inner light by providing passageways for prayers, wishes and desires to be easily received. By lighting with intention a candle's energy is given a purpose and can illuminate your heart from any burdens.

On the night of Samhain (Oct. 31), the veil is thinnest between our world and the afterlife making it easier to communicate with those who have passed. A single candle can be lit and left in the window to guide lost loved ones home.
